British Medical Journal contacted us wanting to develop an online community for doctors and other medical staff, where behind secured login they could discuss patients, cases and other areas of medical practice. Through a series of stakeholder and user interviews we were able to identify what were the primary needs of the users and what would be the key functionality to make them come back.
Using a bespoke system to handle the social network backbone, I identified the various functionalities from the system that we would require, and built a structure in wireframes to illustrate how the functional elements of the system would be used, and where.
Before launch a number of eye tracking tests were done to ensure that no major user need had been left out.
The site was an instant success and was subsequently Shortlisted for the BIMA Awards, and later Highly Commended at the Revolution Awards.
